Parts

I love to deal with layers so this piece I also working with layers. I crop the photo of the man in the dark, just focus on his face. And I use some color pictures, to create some square of different colors. Blend them together using the layer tools, after that I add some more textures of an eye, a mouth into it.....and use History Brush to erase some part to have the effect I want.

Really nice rendering! But I'm worried about the conceptual approach: as I said before. It's very important that you state what you are aiming for... what about the original picture are you distilling? In the case of this photograph, the face is the only thing in it - so the face as a whole won't do as an approach. Is it about gradiations of light, or colour... is there a hot side to the face and a cold side?

Think about what you were focusing on and trying to work with as you progressed through your changes.
